It will be a privilege for RAF Leuchars to host its annual Battle of Britain Airshow on 15 September 2012. To celebrate the Queen's Jubilee, the 2012 RAF Leuchars Airshow will recognise the joint contribution of the Armed Forces during her reign.

Flying Favourites for Airshow


The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) and the Red Arrows will provide pageantry and panache to the skies over Fife on 15 September as part of the flying display programme for this year’s RAF Leuchars Jubilee Air Show: A Diamond Celebration.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (RAFAT), as the Red Arrows are known formally, will be displaying with their Hawk aircraft as part of a strong representation of current RAF assets including key operationally focused aircraft such as Typhoon and Tornado GR4 in a flying display programme that showcases the excellence of the RAF and its equipment.

Airshow Director, Squadron Leader Jon Greenhowe, said:

“The Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are firm crowd favourites and we are delighted that they will be joining us on 15th September. That date is recognised as Battle of Britain day so it is particularly appropriate that the BBMF should be part of our display marking the contribution of ‘The Few’ in this very special Diamond Jubilee year.

“The Red Arrows are acknowledged as one of the world’s premier aerobatic teams and their thrilling display, in their 48th season, will be a treat for what we hope will be a bumper crowd as we celebrate the contribution of the Armed Forces during Her Majesty the Queen’s 60 year reign.”
